Chess.FM: Deepavali & Anand: Lighting up Indian Chess

www.chessclub.com India is having a stellar year in chess thanks in large to the exploits of Viswanathan "Vishy" Anand. Not only has Vishy taken the no.1 spot in the world rankings, he also captured the World Championship title in Mexico City. Recently, India celebrated one of its main holidays, the Deepavali festival (en.wikipedia.org celebrated all over the Indian sub-continent as the festival of lights. So, as a special holiday tribute from our colleges at India ICC Chess.FM, they recently interviewed Anand on his thoughts on becoming world champion and his triumphant return home. Not only that, but we also have exclusive film footage of Anand's homecoming after winning the world championship, where he's feted like a Bollywood star as the crowds turned up in force to celebrate the success of their hero. It is significant that Anand has chosen the occasion of the Indian festival of Deepavali for this interview exclusive to ICC, as its the light that spells the end of darkness, of the mind, body and spirit. And this is the time, that the whole nation looks with optimism and postiveness, and who else but Anand to make it a grand start. The 15 min interview with Anand is conducted by India ICC Chess.FM's host Arvind Aaron, with accompanying video produced by ICC Chess.FM's Macauley Peterson. webcast.chessclub.com
